Lea
near Gainsborough, Lincolnshire - Baronet Anderson
"The old residence at Lea was a moated Manor House, a mile to the east of the
church, of which only the moats and fishponds remain. The present Hall is an
old farmhouse added to since the family removed out of Yorkshire and has nothing
of particular interest about it, except an old chimney-piece, some oak panelling and some family
portraits.
The family of Anderson, Baronet, of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, is stated to
derive from the L'Isles of Northumberland, one of that family, Robert L'Isle, in the
reign of Henry IV, marrying an heiress of the house of Anderson."
