Spain
with Portugal
This map shows the country of Spain as it was in 1626, including Portugal,
which, although a seperate state, was ruled by the Spanish King Phillip II at the time.
The map is flanked by depictions of men and women in their regional costume,
whilst views of cities, such as Lisbon, Toledo, Granada and Cadiz, adorn the top of the map.
In addition to the main settlements, the rivers
and the borders of the Iberian provinces are marked on the map,
as are Maiorca and Yvica (Ibiza), strangely entitled the 'Pyne Ilands'
